Color palette from a photo
Extract colors → make a palette image
Get the colors of any photo
Drop in a photo and this tool extracts its color palette: the main colors, their HEX codes and how much of the picture each one covers. Choose from 2 to 16 colors and compare four ways of picking them side by side.
Turn them into a palette image
Download each palette as a ready-to-post picture: a clean line of swatches, paint chips with HEX codes, dots, color blocks, or your photo with its palette laid over it. Great for moodboards, Pinterest, Instagram stories, journals and brand kits.
Four palette methods
Median cut — colors by the area they cover. Popularity — the most frequent colors. Vibrant — bright accents. Blend — the base of the photo plus the accents the others miss.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The palette is calculated in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
How many colors can I extract?
From 2 to 16. Move the Colors slider and all four palettes update instantly.
Which palette method should I choose?
Median cut follows how much area each color covers, Popularity picks the most frequent colors, Vibrant finds bright accents, and Blend mixes the base colors with the accents the others miss.
Can I use the colors in CSS or a design tool?
Yes. Copy HEX copies the codes, Copy CSS copies ready-made CSS variables, and clicking any color copies its HEX.
What image formats can I download?
Each palette downloads as a PNG: a line of swatches, chips with HEX codes, dots, color blocks, or your photo with its palette on top. Line, chips and dots have a transparent background.
